Vikings: the series that makes you want to become a barbarian!
Vikings is an exceptional series, created by Michael Hirst and broadcast since 2013 on the History channel. She tells us the story of Ragnar Lothbrok, the greatest Viking king. Between history and myth, this series takes us into a dark, epic universe, where loves, betrayals, sword fights and mythologies rule the roost.
Our Top 10 Viking actors are now!
Viking actor #10. Warning light
Actor: John Kavanagh
Birth: 1970
Nationality: Irish
When I spoke to you about mythology and “extraordinary” things. The seer is the character who certainly inspires the most disgust, and who at the same time always gives us, a little in advance, the clues of what may happen in the episodes to come. In short, he gives the future to whoever sees him. And I feel like he’s never wrong…
John Kavanagh has appeared in many films, including Braveheart, with Mel Gibson. Something you may not know, he has two roles in Vikings!
SO ? Did you recognize him? He also plays the role of Pope Leo IV, who we quickly see in season 4.
Viking actor #9. King Harald Finehair
Actor: Peter Franzén
Birth: 1971
Nationality: Finnish
We love to hate him. What’s great about Vikings is that we go through all the states. Which camp are you in?
Who do you prefer? What is certain is that King Harald does not leave anyone indifferent.
The excellent actor Peter Franzén has a great filmography, having starred in more than 40 films. You probably know very few of them, since the majority are films from his native country, Finland.
Unusual: he played in an episode of Maigret (yes yes…), in which he played the role of Leo Liikanen. If that’s not unusual…
Viking actor #8. Athelstan
Actor: George Blagden
Birth: 1989
Nationality: English
I don’t know what you think, but Athelstan, a bit like King Finehair, you either like it or you don’t like it. This article is not intended to be a spoiler nest, so we won’t say anything, as with all the other characters, but Athelstan took us through several stages.
Touching, annoying, surprising, enriching, heartbreaking, intoxicating. In short, there is no shortage of adjectives and some will not agree with me.
One thing is certain, actor George Blagden is an excellent actor, who you may have seen in other series,
since he played in Versailles (he is King Louis XIV) and even Black Mirror. He also starred in Les Misérables (2012).
Viking actor #7. King Ecbert
Actor: Linus Roache
Birth: 1964
Nationality: English
Sacred King Ecbert! Another multi-faceted character. The great thing about Vkings is that it’s all about perspective. We all love the Vikings, their discoveries, their stories, but we must not forget that on the English side, the story is not the same… We like it, we don’t like it, Ecbert is a very intelligent character , played by a very good actor, Linus Roache, who brought depth to the character.
He has played numerous roles in both cinema and television. You may have recognized him in New York Police for example, or in The Blacklist.
For those who are more observant, and I know you are, he played the role of Thomas Wayne, aka Batman’s dad,
in Batman Begins.
Viking actor #6. Ivar the Boneless
Actor: Alex Hogh Andersen
Birth: 1994
Nationality: Danish
Ivar. What a character! And what an actor! He has a very small filmography, for the moment, but given his talent, it wouldn’t surprise me if American cinema took an interest in him very quickly!
He plays a role as complex as it is fascinating. It will be recalled that according to the writings, Ivar did indeed exist. Certainly,
cinema adds its grain of salt, but I find it fascinating.
You will have understood, for me, he is certainly the most interesting Lothbrok, with his father.
Since the huge phenomenon, I’m not the only one who appreciated this Vikings actor, it seems that women are also fans. Given his look and his presence, we can understand!
Unusual: in life, Alex Hogh Andersen is a great friend of Marco Ilsø, who plays the role of Hvitserk (his brother).
Viking actor #5. Rollo Lothbrok
Actor: Clive Standen
Birth: 1981
Nationality: Irish
He doesn’t have a huge filmography, and yet, you’ve definitely seen him somewhere! Before being an excellent actor in Vikings, he played in the Doctor Who series, the Robin Hood series, and since 2017 he has played the role of Bryan Mills (main role) in the series Taken.
We see him much less in the Vikings series, and yet I find that he is the one who comes closest to what I imagine a Vikings to be. Both physically and in his behavior.
We hope to see him again very soon, still as bearded and barbaric!
Unusual: Clive Standen was born in Hollywood. Be careful, with only one “L”. It is a small town in Northern Ireland.
With a name like that, his journey was already written!
Viking actor #4. Bjorn Lothbrok
Actor: Alexander Ludwig
Birth: 1992
Nationality: Canadian
We’ve been talking about good actors from the start. Alexander Ludwig is one of them. He is one of the actors who is on the rise, and who we will find more and more in big productions.
The more he progresses in the series, the more I find that he resembles his father, especially in the way he behaves. Awesome!
You’ve probably already seen Alexander, since he played in “Hunger Games” (the big bad from 1) or in “Blood and Tears”. In short, another excellent Vikings actor! We must congratulate those responsible for the casting, who have not yet made any character errors, except perhaps one… (Princess Aslaug, Ragnar’s 2nd wife).
Viking actor #3. Floki
Actor: Gustaf Skarsgard
Birth: 1980
Nationality: Swedish
Floki is crazy! How many times have we been able to say or hear it. A madman we love! Iconic character of the series, he has been present since the beginning, Floki is an incredible boat builder, which he does in record time!
Its actor, Gustaf Skarsgard, perfectly plays a role that is quite complicated to manage. It must be said that behind his manipulative appearance, he is also an impressive character, since Gustaf measures 1m93!
Unusual: you know almost his entire family.
- His father. Stellan Skarsgård played in Pirates of the Caribbean, Millennium and Thor and Avengers.
- His brother. Alexander Skarsgård played in True Blood and more recently Tarzan (the guy with muscles everywhere).
- His second brother. Bill Skarsgård played in Divergent, Atomic Blonde, but he mainly played the role of Pennywise in the last “It”.
Viking actor #2. Lagertha Lothbrok
Actress: Katheryn Winnick
Birth: 1977
Nationality: Canadian
THE touch of femininity in our ranking of Vikings actors! Don’t worry, we’re not going to sum it up just that. Lagertha is an emblematic character of the Vikings universe, Ragnar’s first wife, Bjorn’s mother, a terrible fighter, a strong, independent, touching, sexy woman, in short we would all like to know her!
It perfectly represents the spirit of the series. You should know that Viking women never hesitated to go into battle, and even if not all of them were as beautiful as Katheryn Winnick, the spirit is respected!
The Vikings actress has played in many feature films, not necessarily known, and especially in numerous series,
such as “The Experts”, “Criminal Minds”, “Dr House”, “Bones”, or even “Person of Interest”. You would have understood it,
the list is long, almost as long as its qualities!
Remember that the actress is 40 years old… Impressive!
#1 Viking actor. Ragnar Lothbrok
Actor: Travis Fimmel
Birth: 1979
Nationality: Australian
Travis Fimmel has had two lives. For the first time, he was a model (we understand why) for Calvin Klein. I’ll let you look at the photos on the web if you’re curious. For those who have the eye, he has also appeared in music videos, for Janet Jackson and Jennifer Lopez, no less.
He has had several roles in series and films, but he is mainly known for his role as Ragnar, the greatest Viking king. A role that he plays masterfully, showing us all his acting talents!
It should still be noted that he played in “Warcraft the Beginning”, a film in which he still had a very good beard.
Since then, Travis Fimmel has appeared in a series and two films. We hope to see him very soon in a role worthy of him,
why not in a completely different style?
Vikings is an excellent series that could have been included in our Top 10 best series.. To be continued depending on season 5!
