My family first, cult actors and episodes!
Make a top 10 actors from My Family First, it’s above all remembering all these episodes at lunchtime or in the afternoon on M6, with such a funny and quirky family!
The actors also had some laughs during the filming of the episodes, for this series which was broadcast between 2001 and 2005, with Damon Wayans (Michael Kyle) as co-creator and producer.

TOP 10. Claire Marie Kyle
Actress: Jazz Raycole
But if you remember, it was she who first interpreted Claire from my family! She didn’t stay very long, one season, and was replaced by actress Jennifer Nicole Freeman, who we will find a little later in this Top 10.
Back to Jazz Raycole. We can already tell that she has changed a lot! Just look at the difference in the photo above… Obviously, she has grown (well). She left my family’s set first following differences between her mother and the production for a script: Claire’s best friend who discovers that she is pregnant. A dark story, but let’s move on!
Jazz (pretty first name) will play in many series, for one episode. You may have recognized her from New York: Special Forces, New Girl, Bones or even Izombie.
She won’t leave a lasting memory in this series, and personally, we much prefer the new Claire from my family first!
TOP 9. Tony Jeffers
Actor: Andrew McFarlane
ahh Tony, we would have loved (or hated) to have a father-in-law like Michael Kyle, lucky guy (or not)! This character made us laugh, with his very pious style, his freshness and his candid side. A secondary character in the series, he will not, however, be at the level of a Franklin or a Calvin, who are much more identified and identifiable with the series.
What becomes of him? Excellent question! It should be remembered that Andrew McFarlane was both an actor and a model. You have the eye if you recognized him in the Lizzie Macguire series (he had a very small role). Since then, it has been radio silence. It is not found in any series or film broadcast in Europe. We obviously wish him good luck for the future, hoping to see him again in another series as crazy and endearing as my family first.
TOP 8. Vanessa Scott
Actress: Brooklyn Sudano
She was cool Vanessa, we put her in a better position than Tony, in our top my family first actors, quite simply because she allowed the character of Junior to gain a little depth, and to go even further in its history and development. Besides that, actress Brooklyn Sudano played her role very well, bringing touches of humor, and a little sexiness too.
You may not know it, but she is the daughter of Donna Summer (yes, the disco singer “Love to love you baby), who has sold more than 130 million albums, sorry.
In short, we find our Vanessa from my family first in a few films and series: Dance Crew, or even Ballers (series) and Taken (series).
Personally, some boys in the editorial department were “in love” with Vanessa, we can only wish her good luck for the future! Without any transition, the other boys were crazy about Claire from my family first, to discover now.
TOP 7. Claire Marie Kyle (2)
Actress: Jennifer Nicole Freeman
She is so beautiful. Whether in the series or even today, Jennifer Freeman has been touched by grace. The adorable, and sometimes pest, Claire from My Family First rocked the pre- and adolescence of quite a few of us. The teenager who looked a bit like us asked questions that we could also ask ourselves, we liked to identify with her or her friends.
Let’s make it clear right away, Jennifer is not the daughter or granddaughter of Morgan Freeman. She is an actress and also a model (we understand why) and has played in a few films and series, not known in Europe.
In the United States, she is best known for her many boyfriends: singers, actors, athletes. She is also the mother of little Isabella. Unfortunately, she has also been in the news for domestic violence in the past.
We would really like to see Claire’s interpreter again in a new series, as simple and funny as back then.
TOP 6. Calvin Scott
Actor: Lester Speight
Calvin from My Family First, he’s a hell of a character! Impressive, funny, Lester Speight had a role made for him, almost tailor-made. This former American footballer, also a wrestler, is nicknamed “Rasta” and has appeared in quite a few films and series.
You may have seen him in Walker Texas Ranger (yes yes), Prison Break, NYPD Blue or in films like Norbit, Faster or Transformers.
The always (at least in our hearts) Calvin from My Family First still makes us dream today during reruns of the series. His moments with Michael Kyle in his company, the transformation of Franklin into this bodybuilder character to scare away kids, and many others…
He too, we would love to see him again on TV!
Given the man’s build, we almost wonder if he could not also have claimed our top 10 greatest bodybuilders!
TOP 5. Janet ‘Jay’ Kyle
Actress: Tisha Campbell
There are a lot of things to say about Tisha Campbell. She is, perhaps as much as Michael Kyle, inseparable from the series My Family First. Janet is a modern woman, who has (almost) perfect love with her sweetheart Michael Kyle. Both of them will have to manage their lives as well as that of their children, always with humor and quirkiness. We would all have liked to live at least a few months in this family, and to have parents who were as playful, tolerant and at the same time fair.
He definitely wasn’t my favorite character, I always found the Kyle couple very cute, but I never thought they looked very good together. Who knows why? Still, Tisha Campbell played the role of Janet in 123 episodes of the series (until its cancellation) and brought a little madness to this fun and young mom in her head.
On the professional side, Tisha Campbell has a full CV, since she has played in numerous series and films. What you certainly know less is that she released 4 singles and also an album, in 1993. TOP 4. Kady Kyle
Actress: Parker McKenna Posey
Kady was the little princess of my family first, with her two little pigtails and her baby teeth. Yes, you can say it (and see it), she has changed a lot, and not for the better! We knew him as the last of the family, certainly the smartest and finest of the three. But his role is also inseparable from that of Franklin, who played his lover, ready to do anything to seduce “his sweet and tender one” Kady.
Today, and after a few appearances in little-known series, Parker McKenna Posey is mainly known for her dreamy looks. We quickly understand why, when we look at the photo above…
She spends most of her time modeling and appearing on Instagram or Snapchat next to her girlfriends or alone in very sexy positions.
Would we like to see Parker McKenna Posey again in a series or film? Obviously yes. We would get to know a new person, very far from the role that made them world famous.
TOP 3. Michael Kyle Junior
Actor: George O. Gore II
First of all, Junior suits him a lot better than George, don’t you think? Junior, the funniest character, sometimes in spite of himself, in the series. We can say that he showed us some, but never with malice. This ultra candid character, sometimes considered “stupid”, is magnificently played by George O. Gore II.
The teenager with the head resembling a “billiard ball”, as his father Michael Kyle says, made us laugh for years. We will remember his oversized sweatshirts, his bedroom in the garage, his schooling and his role as a father.
Little anecdote: few people know it, but he played alongside Tupac in the film Juice (1992).
We’ve had very little news about him since the end of My Family First, and of course we would LOVE to see him again 🙂
TOP 2. Franklin Aloyisious Mumford
Actor: Noah Gray-Cabey
Yes yes, Franklin from My Family First, that’s the person on the right in the photo. he has changed a lot, and gained quite a few muscles (helped by Calvin perhaps??). A very young, endearing, gifted character, pianist, Franklin, whose real name is Noah Gray-Cabey, enchanted us through his funny and fine performances.
Kady’s lover likes bodybuilding, but not only that. You may not know it, but it’s actually him who plays the piano in the series, since he first became known as a gifted pianist, before becoming an actor. He was even the youngest soloist to play the piano at the Sydney Opera House, class!
I don’t know what you think, but we would definitely see Franklin and Kady together in real life, with looks like that, they are really magnificent!
What happens to him? Noah Gray-Cabey has appeared in quite a few series, such as CSI, Heroes, Code Black, and is continuing his acting career. He still needs a more important role to explode globally, which we sincerely hope.
TOP 1. Michael Richard Kyle
Actor: Damon Wayans
Michael Kyle from My Family First is a bit like Starsky and Hutch, Cousin Hub and Jacquouille, in short it is inseparable. Perhaps he doesn’t really like being compared only to this role, but it is certainly his greatest and most striking.
He made us come home from school to watch his adventures and those of his family at lunchtime, and he still makes us watch the rebroadcasts which regularly air on W9!
Unusual, he comes from a great family of actors. It’s simple, my brothers, sisters, parents, children, everyone is immersed in cinema. What you might not know is that he is the brother of the producers and actors of Scary Movie 1 and 2, F.B.I (Fake Blonde Undercover). Yes yes, they are all from the same family.
Unusual (2), his real son is also called Junior. The circle is complete? Maybe!
